I have been visiting SoHo rock photography store Morrison Hotel for a few years now. It's a little oasis amidst a sea of trendy boutique stores that hock designer jeans and overpriced sneakers. It's a place where artists like Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, Neil Young, Levon Helm, and the history of rock n' roll music are celebrated.
We've all heard the saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, that saying doesn't apply to the photographs in this gallery. These pictures tell stories that are endless in length. As each photo is focused on, the viewer gets lost on yet another journey trying to piece together the context of where the photo was taken and what the subject was doing just before and after it was taken. The space may be small, but plan to stay for a while.
Coming March 22nd to Morrison Hotel is an exhibit by photographer Bill Bernstein in which he captures Paul McCartney's world tour of 2002 and 2003. When I return to New York City at the end of this month, I will certainly be checking into the Hotel to go to on tour with Paul as he brought Beatlemania back to a global audience. Bill Bernstein will be present on Saturday, March 24th from 1:00PM - 4:00PM. The photographs are hand-signed by the photographer and Paul McCartney
